Biometrics Are Not Always “Once and Done”

生物信息采集并不总是“一次完成，十年有效”

很多申请人以为，只要曾经向 IRCC 提供过指纹和照片，未来十年内就不需要再次录入生物信息。 这个理解只说对了一部分。

根据 IRCC 的规定，申请人是否需要再次提供生物信息，取决于其递交的申请类型。

临时居民申请：通常十年有效

对于临时居民申请，例如旅游签证、学习许可、工作许可或境内延期申请，生物信息通常在十年内有效。 如果申请人在过去十年内已经提供过生物信息，IRCC 通常可以将其自动关联到新的临时居民申请中。

永久居民申请：规则并不一样

但是，对于永久居民申请，规则是不一样的。大多数永久居民申请人需要在每一次递交永久居民申请时 重新提供生物信息，即使申请人此前已经因为工作许可、学习许可、旅游签证或其他临时居民申请 完成过生物信息采集。

这意味着，如果申请人此前已经因工作许可申请完成过生物信息采集，但之后又在配偶团聚、 家庭团聚、Express Entry、省提名、H&C 人道主义申请或其他永久居民申请项下收到新的 生物信息采集通知，这并不一定是 IRCC 系统出错。

这很可能只是因为新的申请属于永久居民申请，而 IRCC 要求申请人为该永久居民申请重新提供生物信息。

收到 Biometric Instruction Letter 后应注意什么？

申请人应当仔细阅读 IRCC 发出的生物信息采集通知。如果 IRCC 要求申请人提供生物信息， 通常需要在信件日期起三十天内完成。

拖延或忽视该要求，可能会导致申请审理延误，甚至引发其他问题。

Many applicants believe that once they have provided fingerprints and a photo to IRCC, they will not need to provide biometrics again for ten years. This is only partly correct.

For temporary residence applications, such as visitor visas, study permits, work permits, or extensions, biometrics are generally valid for ten years. If biometrics were provided within the past ten years, IRCC may automatically attach them to a new temporary residence application.

However, for permanent residence applications, the rule is different. Most permanent residence applicants are required to provide biometrics every time they apply, even if they previously completed biometrics for a work permit, study permit, visitor visa, or another temporary residence application.

Therefore, if an applicant receives a new Biometric Instruction Letter under a family sponsorship, Express Entry, PNP, humanitarian and compassionate application, or another permanent residence application, it is not necessarily an IRCC mistake.

Applicants should always read the latest instruction letter carefully and complete biometrics within the required deadline.
